DescriptionThis is a short piece to experiment with an equal tempered scale of five tones per octave. Interestingly, it seems that most or all listeners (including myself) hear the melody conforming to the traditional pentatonic scale ("black keys" on the piano), but just out of tune. This demonstrates that our brain's audio processing uses familiarity to understand what is being heard. The piece was created and auto-performed on my good ol' Commodore Amiga 1000 computer. |
